Comment on the West Side Community Plan

I am very concerned about the lack of targeted housing for our senior population. You may or may not know that Wilder is out of the senior housing business. The Wilder West campus has been for sale for a couple of years now and has been unable to sell, with the current management being a company who has never worked with a senior population before.
I believe that senior citizens should have access to designated housing within their own community, and should not have to leave their neighborhood to find a place to live. I honestly cannot think of another St. Paul neighborhood that does not provide senior housing.
What can we do to get this into the comprehensive plan, and get our CDC to attract a group like the Presbyterian Homes, or another builder that specifically builds senior housing?
I’m sorry I wasn’t part of the comprehensive plan this time, but truly am disappointed that NO ONE is looking out for our West Side senior citizen population.
